Classes

If microphones, mixing consoles, compressors, EQ’s, reverbs and power amps are music to your ears, check out our classes in the exciting world of audio engineering through the Corporate and Continuing Education at Midlands Technical College. Audio engineering professionals teach each class covering what you need to become a studio engineer, live sound technician, or artist manager.

How Long Will it Take?

You will receive a certificate of completion for each class. We offer eight classes, totaling 138-classroom hours, and at the completion of all 8 classes you will be awarded a certificate in audio engineering.

Each class is offered at least once a year as an 8-week course that meets once a week starting at 7pm. We offer three courses at a time through most of the year, our full schedule is below.

On occasion, there will be a weekend section offered of certain classes. They meet from 10am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Once you have completed all 8 classes, you have the opportunity to take part in the audio engineering internship program. Midlands Audio Institute places you with local industry-related companies to put the skills you’ve acquired through our classes to work.

How Much Does it Cost?

Registration is $449 and includes the required textbook. Best of all, you don’t have to invest in Pro Tools or other audio engineering software required for the classes right away – all of your labs can be completed on the Midlands Audio Institute lab computer.
